South Cariboo – Sand Lined Seepage Bed

This project is a repair for a single family residence with an auxiliary sleeper cabin (no additional kitchen facilities). The original disposal field was placed under the existing driveway and was failing. The well location limited the area available for a replacement field. A sand lined seepage bed was designed to minimize the system footprint without using additional treatment. Cleartech was able to site the replacement field to meet the drinking water well and surface water setback backs using a sand lined seepage bed.
A Type 1 septic tank treatment system was used followed by timed dosing to the sand lined seepage bed. Cleartech completed site assessment to evaluate the existing system failure, and to complete permeameter, percolation testing and a soils evaluation at the location of the replacement field. Cleartech completed the detailed design of the septic system, filed the Record of Sewerage System with the Interior Health Authority and reviewed the system during construction. The Letter of Certification and maintenance plan will be completed and submitted to the Health Authority and the home owner upon completion of the system.
