This project is a single family residential system repair on a semi-rural area on the outskirts of Squamish. The owner reported that the existing conventional gravity system had failed and was causing periodic ponding of effluent in his back yard.
An inspection of the system was subsequently completed by a certified ROWP Inspector and it was determined that the system need complete replacement. Our review of the existing site features and results of our site assessment indicated that a Type 1 sand mound would be suitable for the site.
Cleartech completed percolation testing and hang dug test pits at the new sand mound location, prepared the detailed design of the septic system, and filed the system with the Vancouver Coastal Health Authority. To date the contractor has completed 95% of the works, including installation of a new septic tank with effluent filter and alarm, a new pump chamber, and simplex pumping system with Aquaworx controls. The sand mound has been completed and awaits a final lift of topsoil to complete the job.
